The Dolce&Gabbana Fall Winter 2014-15 collection is an ethereal, whimsical, fairy tale inspired collection which marries fantasy with reality. With this video Swide looks at the collection and tells you the Dolce&Gabbana fairy tale through its protagonists.
Once upon a time in Sicily… the invitation to Dolce & Gabbana’s autumn/winter 2014 show read, and their storytelling didn’t disappoint for a moment. From the minute the curtains parted and we saw an enchanted forest – one huge tree growing out of the floor into a misty swirl of snow - we knew we were in for some fun.
Then out came the animals – foxes, big-eyed owls and squirrels were appliqued onto lace shift dresses with huge fur hoods, followed by jewelled dresses with matching flat-soled thigh high boots and glittering headpieces: they were gallant knights come to rescue Little Red Riding Hood in her fur hood and billowing red chiffon robe.
Ruched silk jersey dresses were drawn in to the waist by laced corsets – the innocence of the entire show was beset by Dolce’s signature sex appeal, and there was a dark Medieval notion as the wicked queen went by in a black glittering minidress with matching hood and encrusted gloves.
